HEAVY SNOWFALL MONDAY.
A LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM OVER NORTHERN MONTANA WILL MOVE THROUGH THE DAKOTAS EARLY MONDAY. THIS DISTURBANCE WILL SPREAD SNOW INTO SOUTHERN MANITOBA BEGINNING ON MONDAY MORNING, ACCOMPANIED BY NORTHERLY WINDS. 10 TO 15 CENTIMETRES OF SNOW WILL FALL OVER MANY AREAS OF SOUTHERN MANITOBA BEFORE THIS SYSTEM MOVES OFF INTO NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO LATE MONDAY. EAST-FACING SLOPES OF THE MANITOBA ESCARPMENT AND REGIONS NEAR LAKES WINNIPEG AND MANITOBA MAY SEE AS MUCH AS 20 CENTIMETRES. THE SNOW WILL TAPER OFF MONDAY NIGHT FOR MOST AREAS. HOWEVER, SOME LOCALLY HEAVY FLURRIES WILL LIKELY PERSIST ON TUESDAY IN AREAS JUST SOUTH OF THE MANITOBA LAKES. ENVIRONMENT CANADA CONTINUES TO MONITOR THIS SITUATION AND SNOWFALL WARNINGS WILL BE EXPANDED INTO THE WATCH AREAS IF IT APPEARS THE HEAVY SNOWFALL WILL ALSO OCCUR IN THOSE REGIONS.
