A deadly earthquake measured grade 7.9 Richter scale happened in Sichuan Province, China 2:00 PM May 12th local time, followed by a string of nearly 30 seismic jolts with magnitude 4.0 and above in the first 24 hours following the quake and slowed the progress of rescue teams. Up to now based on incomplete figures, the death toll exceeded 14866 , 26206 people were injured, more than 25000 people including thousands of children and students were still trapped under rubble, and 7841 were missing. More than 70 percent of the roads were damaged, almost all bridges had collapsed, and as many as 3.5 million homes were destroyed.
